Six Japanese menswear brands to visit New York City.
During Fall Winter 2017’s men’s wholesale market, mahna mahna new york will showcase 6 men’s apparel and accessory brands from Japan to assist their debut into the US market. mahna mahna new york was selected by JETRO to head the special consulting collaboration over the course of January and February 2017.
The Japan External Trade Organization, better known as JETRO, is a Japanese government organization that “promotes mutually beneficial trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. Originally established in 1958 to promote Japanese exports abroad, JETRO’s core focus in the 21st century has shifted toward promoting foreign direct investment into Japan and helping small to medium size Japanese firms maximize their global export potential.” mahna mahna new york’s consulting will provide insight in market trends and business planning to bridge cultural gaps and optimize the brands’ potentials.
Many of the same struggles that American designers face when expanding to Japan will be present inversely for the 6 Japanese men’s brands in FW17.

Vivon is a jewelry brand based in Okinawa,  Japan, owned by a brother and sister duo who both  studied at Central Saint Martins. For New York’s  Men’s Fashion Week they will be showcasing their hand made eyewear line, made in Fukui, Japan.


TAAKK is the recipient of the Tokyo Fashion  Award, which gives them the opportunity to show  in Paris for the first time this January. The designer worked for Issey Miyake before launching his own line, which in known for its tailoring with a special focuses on geometry and color.


Founded in 2014, the brand focuses on functional, yet innovative outerwear pieces. Traditional and modern fabrics are mixed to offer a completely new product type.


Made in Japan, SOCKsist creates functional and fashionable socks—with special toe reinforcement and increased absorbency.
